The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Tunisia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations and expanding areas of cooperation.
The renewed pledge came during a courtesy call at ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja, where ECOWAS President Gen. Birame Diop received Tunisia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and explore new avenues for regional development, stability and sustainable economic growth in Africa.
Welcoming Ambassador Antit, Diop expressed appreciation for Tunisia’s interest in deepening engagement with ECOWAS. He said stronger cooperation between the West African bloc and Tunisia could significantly advance shared objectives in economic development, technological advancement, security and regional integration.
“Stronger cooperation between ECOWAS and Tunisia could contribute significantly to shared objectives in areas including economic development, technological advancement, security, and regional integration,” Diop said.
Antit reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to strengthening ties with ECOWAS and highlighted the country’s readiness to explore practical initiatives capable of turning shared aspirations into concrete programs and partnerships. “Africa is our priority,” he said.
The Abuja talks underscore growing momentum for Africa-wide cooperation and could open new opportunities for trade, investment, security and regional integration between West Africa and North Africa.
