Qatar National Day Feted in Tunis Amid Strong Bilateral Ties and Investment Pledges

Marking Qatar’s National Day, the Qatari Embassy in Tunisia hosted an official reception on Sunday, drawing a high-level assembly of Tunisian government officials, diplomats, and cultural figures in a display of robust bilateral relations.

The event saw the attendance of key Tunisian leaders, including the Ministers of Interior, Health, and Investment, the Speakers of Parliament, and numerous Arab and foreign ambassadors. In a significant economic overture, Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Al-Nouri, conveying a message from President Kais Saied, expressed Tunisia’s keenness to attract and facilitate more Qatari investment, aiming to elevate cooperation to a “productive and effective partnership.”

Qatar’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Zayed bin Saeed Al-Khiyarin, underscored the historical depth of the relationship, built on “genuine fraternity” and over 80 official agreements. He highlighted the human dimension of the partnership, noting the over 50,000 Tunisians living and working in Qatar.

“Our relations are steadily advancing across investment, development, education, and culture,” stated Ambassador Al-Khiyarin, attributing the progress to the directives of Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Saied. “We look to the future with great optimism.”

On regional affairs, the ambassador reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, advocating for a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also outlined Qatar’s active role in international mediation, citing efforts in conflicts from Gaza to Colombia and Ukraine.

“We continue to work with determination alongside our partners… to consolidate de-escalation efforts,” Al-Khiyarin said, expressing hope for positive outcomes toward stability.

The celebration, held under Qatar’s national theme “With You We Rise, Through You We Advance,” emphasized the role of youth and people in development. The strong turnout and reciprocal commitments signaled a mutual desire to deepen ties, with economic collaboration poised as a central pillar for future growth.
