In a landmark decision coinciding with Egypt’s October Victory celebrations, Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Egypt’s nominee, has been elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) by an overwhelming majority of the Executive Board.

This historic victory makes Dr. El-Anany the first Egyptian and Arab, and the second African ever to hold the position since the organization’s founding in 1945, underscoring Egypt’s enduring influence and cultural leadership on the global stage.
