The national festival dedicated to professional short films returns to Tunis this October for a milestone 13th edition, showcasing emerging talent and reflecting on two decades of cinematic promotion.
The Ibn Rachiq Cultural Center will be the epicenter of Tunisian cinema from October 3 to 5, 2025, as it hosts the 13th edition of Tunis Tout Court. This year marks a significant double anniversary: the festival’s 20th year since its 2005 inception and its resilient return after a pandemic-induced hiatus.
Organized by the Tunisian Association for the Promotion of Film Criticism (ATPCC), the festival was founded on the conviction that short films are a crucial space for artistic experimentation and renewal.
“Over the years, Tunis Tout Court has become an essential platform for recognition, dissemination, and reflection,” said a festival representative. “It has launched careers and fostered a vital dialogue between critics and creators.”
This celebratory edition arrives as the ATPCC itself nears its 40th anniversary, positioning the event as both a tribute to a remarkable legacy and a step toward future cinematic horizons.
A Rich Program Beyond the Screen
True to its mission, the festival offers more than just screenings. The 2025 program is packed with activities designed to spark conversation and build skills, including:
- A seminar and training workshop focused on the theme of adaptation.
- A competition for critical articles.
- Public debates and exchanges with filmmakers and critics.
Sixteen Films Vie for Top Honors
At the heart of the event is the official competition, which presents 16 of the most notable Tunisian short films produced in 2023 and 2024. The selection represents a vibrant mix of fiction, documentary, and animation, highlighting the diversity of new voices in the industry.
A jury of critics and academics will award prizes in four categories: Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Technical Contribution, and Best Acting Performance.
The official selection includes:
- Leni Africo by Marouene Labib
- 373, Pasteur Street by Mohamed Ismail Louati
- Where is Diana by Samy Chaffai
- Makun by Fares Naanaa
- Le sentier de Isha by Selma Hobbi
