The 5th LAB INNOVA FOR TUNISIA STARTUP 2025 was inaugurated on 16 June 2025 in Tunis. The event is part of the LAB INNOVA FOR AFRICA LUCA ATTANASIO management training project, promoted by ICE Agence Tunis – Commercial Section of the Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Business Training Office at the Rome headquarters. The programme was inaugurated by the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, in the presence of the Minister of Technology and Communication, Sofiene Hemissi.
This programme, launched in 2019, is dedicated to management training for African start-ups, with a focus on agribusiness or ICT-STARTUPs depending on the country. It has already trained 812 African companies, including 117 in Tunisia, which has hosted five editions of LAB INNOVA FOR TUNISIA STARTUP and the first edition of LAB INNOVA FOR TUNISIA AGRIBUSINESS in 2025.
For the 5th edition, around 40 applications were received, with 20 startups selected from a variety of sectors including AgriTech, Big Data, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Energy, Fintech, GreenTech, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Medtech, Mobility, Textiles and Mechanics. The programme includes classroom, online training and a Study-Tour to Italy in November 2025, during the ECOMONDO event in Rimini, dedicated to the green and circular economy. The aim of the trip is to strengthen business opportunities and exchanges with Italian counterparts.
The initiative illustrates Italian-Tunisian cooperation in digital transition and innovation. Bilateral agreements and infrastructures such as the Terna Innovation Zone, an Italian innovation hub accessible to Tunisian start-ups, will strengthen this cooperation.
At the same time, the first edition of the LAB INNOVA FOR TUNISIA AGRIBUSINESS 2025, launched in February, specifically targets the Tunisian agricultural sector with a similar training programme and a study trip to Italy, involving Italian and Tunisian partners from the agricultural sector.
