U.S. Invites International Secondary Teachers for 2026-2027 Fulbright Excellence Program

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has announced the 2026–2027 Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (Fulbright TEA) Program, which will bring international secondary-school teachers to the United States for a comprehensive six-week professional development experience.

The program is designed to deepen participants’ teaching skills through academic seminars at a host university, while also offering opportunities to observe U.S. classrooms and collaborate with American teachers and students.

According to program guidelines, the initiative aims to equip educators with advanced methodologies in teaching practices, lesson planning, project-based learning, and instructional technology. A further key objective is to foster a nuanced understanding of U.S. society, history, and the education system among international teachers, while building lasting professional bridges between U.S. and global educational communities.

Upon returning to their home countries, participants are expected to serve as teacher leaders, applying and sharing their enhanced skills with colleagues and students to strengthen local education systems. The program also aims to broaden U.S. students’ global awareness through direct interaction with international educators.

Eligibility is open to full-time secondary-level teachers of English, EFL, math, science, social studies, foreign languages, journalism, or communications, including special education instructors in these subjects. Applications are now being accepted for the 2026–2027 cohort.
