Investment in manufacturing industry in Tunisia reached 2.5 billion dinars ($ 900 million), registering a leap of 3.9 % compared with same period last year, Ministry of Industry and Small-and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) revealed on Friday.
The January-August period was marked by the increase of job creation reaching 41,188, up 2.4 % compared with last year, the ministry said.
Investment in leather and footwear sector almost tripled to 29.4 million dinars, up 272.7 % in growth, against only 7.9 million dinars of the first eight months last year.
Besides, foreign and partly foreign investments increased by 51.4% (3% rise in number of projects and 23.3% in number of jobs).
Investments dedicated entirely for exports grew by 89%, an increase of 17.5% in number of projects and 21% in number of jobs.
