The Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC) was awarded the Premier Prize at the FOCIA 2025 Forum held in Conakry, recognizing its pivotal role in advancing continental economic cooperation.
The award was presented to TABC President Anis Jaziri, citing his personal commitment and the organization’s structured approach to economic diplomacy. It highlights TABC’s vision for deeper regional integration and its success in networking African economic stakeholders.
The ceremony occurred during a multi-sector TABC economic mission to Guinea from October 28 to November 2, timed with the forum. The Tunisian delegation, comprising company and institutional representatives, held extensive meetings with Guinean public and private sectors to identify new investment and partnership opportunities.
Discussions focused on cooperation in energy, water, infrastructure, digital technology, industrial processing, and trade. A key theme was leveraging Tunisian expertise to support Guinea’s economic transformation and add value to local resources.
The mission aligns with Guinea’s significant economic shifts, primarily driven by the launch of the Simandou project. This massive $20+ billion mining and infrastructure initiative involves developing one of the world’s richest iron ore deposits. The project encompasses priority areas like transport infrastructure, energy transition, industrialization, and digital transformation.
Official projections estimate the Simandou project could generate cumulative revenues of approximately $200 billion between 2025 and 2040, with a substantial expected impact on related sectors including logistics, construction, services, agriculture, and vocational training.
