At the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, Maya Ajamiyeh’s “Têtes Brûlées” had a sold-out world premiere in the 14+ section.
On Monday evening, February 17, the film’s director, protagonist, and producers screened the film, followed by a panel discussion in which the audience expressed their desire to learn more about the film’s inspirational story.
A Belgian-Tunisian co-production, “Têtes Brûlées” is a coming-of-age story shaped by the tragedy of 12-year-old Eya dealing with the sudden loss of her older brother Younes, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Amid an intense and complex grieving process, Eya uses her creative skills, resilience, and the support of Younes’ friends to cope with his departure and find her way to maturity.
“Têtes Brûlées” is produced by Komoko and co-produced by Quetzalcoatl and 1080 Films written and directed by Belgian-Tunisian-Danish director and screenwriter Maya Ajmia Zlema, produced by Mark Goins (HERE, GHOST TROPIC) and Nabil Ben Yedder (ANIMALS), shot by Graeme Vandekerkopf (HERE, GHOST TROPIC), edited by Dieter Dependel, with production design by Yves Martin. The film stars Safaa Gharbawi, Mehdi Bouziane, Mounir Amamra, Adnan Harouati, Saber Tabi, Nicolas Makoula, Mehdi Zelma, and Mounia Tayeb. MAD Distribution distributes the film in the Arab world, while MAD World handles sales in the rest of the world.
During the festival’s run from February 13 to 23, it will be screened four more times.
