Marrakech Film Festival Sets 2025 Return, Announces Star-Studded Tributes and Industry Line-Up

The 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) is set to illuminate the city from November 28th to December 6th, 2025, organizers announced, unveiling a program featuring major cinematic tributes and a robust industry platform dedicated to emerging talent.

A Stage for Global Icons and Emerging Voices

The festival will honour four luminaries from across the film world: Oscar-winning actors Jodie Foster and Guillermo del Toro, and Egyptian screen icons Raouya and Hussein Fahmi. These tributes underscore the festival’s two-decade-long role as a global crossroads for cinematic talent.

Alongside the glitz of the red carpet, the festival’s professional heart will beat at the 8th edition of the Atlas Workshops (Nov. 30 – Dec. 4). This year’s industry platform, under the banner of the Atlas Programs, has selected 28 projects and films for development and support.

Cristian Mungiu to Mentor New Generation

Renowned Romanian auteur Cristian Mungiu will serve as the patron of the Atlas Workshops. The Palme d’Or winner, celebrated for films like 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and R.M.N., brings his distinct voice of precision and humanist storytelling to the event.

“I gladly accept the position of Patron… hoping that from this encounter, both the filmmakers I am going to meet and I myself will have a lot to learn,” Mungiu stated. “I believe cinema is a great tool for investigating reality and getting to know the Other despite all stereotypes.”

The Atlas Workshops form the core of the festival’s strategy to bolster the next generation of Moroccan, Arab, and African filmmakers.

Conversations with Cinema’s Architects

Further enriching the 2025 edition, the festival’s popular Conversations series will return, inviting a roster of international film personalities to share intimate insights into their craft. The program offers audiences a rare glimpse into the creative processes that drive global cinema.

With this blend of celebration and cultivation, the 22nd FIFM positions itself once again as a vital nexus where established masters and rising creators converge under the banner of the Seventh Art.
