Libya Launches Digital Export Gateway at Key Tunisia Border Crossing

The Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA) inaugurated a new Unified Export Window at the Ras Ajdir border crossing with Tunisia on Tuesday. The launch event was attended by LEDA Chairman Mohamed Al-Hangari and senior customs officials.

The digital platform marks a significant shift from 15 years of paper-based procedures to an integrated electronic system. During the inauguration, officials demonstrated the Single Window Export System, which allows registered Libyan exporting companies to submit applications, process data, and complete all export formalities for shipments destined for Tunisia through a single portal.

Chairman Al-Hangari described the initiative as “a qualitative leap and a significant digital transformation” that aligns with LEDA’s vision for export development. He emphasized that the window would provide accurate, real-time statistics on the types and volumes of Libyan products exiting through all border points, while also streamlining services for exporters.

The system includes a feature for the renewal of exporter registrations, centralizing a key administrative process. LEDA stated that operationalizing the Ras Ajdir window is a major step in its strategy to develop and regulate Libya’s non-hydrocarbon exports.

The Ras Ajdir crossing is a vital economic conduit between Libya and Tunisia. By digitizing and unifying export procedures, Libyan authorities aim to reduce bottlenecks, enhance transparency, and foster stronger trade ties with its neighbor.*
