International Theatre Forum to Explore the Artist’s Role in Society at Carthage Theatre Days

The 26th edition of the Carthage Theatre Days hosts an International Theatre Forum from November 24-26, 2025, convening leading playwrights, directors, and academics from across the globe. Under the theme “The Theatre Artist, Their Time, and Their Work,” the forum aims to create a dynamic crossroad for artistic and intellectual exchange.

Organized by the festival’s steering committee, the three-day forum seeks to stimulate a collaborative dialogue between the perspectives of theatre practitioners and those of philosophers and sociologists. Its central goal is to collectively examine the place of theatrical art in two closely related contexts: the artist’s personal and professional experience as a witness to their time and the challenges of positioning their work within a specific social landscape.

The forum will feature sessions led by a notable roster of international artists and thinkers, including

  • Fadhel Jaïbi (Tunisia)
  • Patrice Pavis (France)
  • Khaled Galal (Egypt)
  • Latefa Ahrrare (Morocco)
  • Abdramane Kamaté (Côte d’Ivoire)
  • María Adelaida Palacio (Colombia)
  • Ali Mahdi (Sudan)
  • Fabio Tolledi (Italy)
  • Koloff Tumur (Russia)

Their discussions will be guided by moderators from their respective countries, fostering a truly international discourse.

By creating this platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and viewpoints, the International Theatre Forum endeavors to deepen the understanding of theatre’s vital role in reflecting and interrogating the complexities of the modern world. The event underscores the ongoing significance of the Carthage Theatre Days as a premier stage for global theatrical dialogue.
