The Embassy of India in Tunis successfully organized the “Viksit Bharat Run 2025” on Sunday, September 28, in a vibrant display of bilateral friendship and a shared vision for a developed India. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 120 members of the Indian community, Tunisian friends, and well-wishers.
The 2.5-kilometer community run commenced at 10:00 AM from the Embassy premises at 4 Rue Didon, concluding at the entrance of the Tunis Belvedere Zoo Park around 11:00 AM. The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest His Excellency Mr. Faysel Esghaier, Member of Parliament from Kalaat El Andalous.
In her opening address, Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India to Tunisia, framed the run as a celebration of service, unity, and the strong India-Tunisia partnership. She highlighted the event’s connection to the broader “Run to Serve the Nation” campaign, reflecting India’s commitment to inclusive development and global engagement under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ceremony included the administration of the Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat pledges to the Indian diaspora, reinforcing their role in India’s developmental journey. Further emphasizing environmental responsibility, a sapling was jointly planted by Ambassador Khobragade and the Chief Guest under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, with additional saplings distributed to the community.
In a special video message, Mr. Faysel Esghaier congratulated India on its significant achievements and praised the run as a reflection of the nation’s aspirations. He reaffirmed the strong, time-tested bonds of friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and India.
The event, covered by media at both the start and finish lines, concluded with the distribution of participation certificates, marking a successful and memorable celebration of bilateral solidarity and shared values.
