The Embassy of India in Tunis, in partnership with the Tunisian-Indian Friendship Association (TIFA) and the Honorary Consul of Tunisia in Bengaluru, hosted a “Days of India & Diwali” reception on November 15 at the Golden Carthage Hotel in La Marsa.
The event was attended by senior Tunisian officials, including H.E. Mr. Slim Ghariani, Director General for Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In her address, Indian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Devyani Uttam Khobragade highlighted the warm relations between India and Tunisia, describing Diwali as a festival that “symbolises the triumph of light, knowledge, and hope.” She emphasized the deepening partnership rooted in shared values and growing cooperation.
TIFA President, Mr. Jamel Boujdaria, expressed confidence in the future of Tunisia-India relations and underscored the event’s role in strengthening cultural and economic ties.

The celebration featured traditional Diwali lamp lighting, a meditation session, a classical dance performance by Tunisian artist Maha Gaida, and a fashion show of Indian and Tunisian attire. Guests enjoyed Indian tea tastings and a buffet dinner.
The event, attended by approximately 250 guests, was supported by several corporate sponsors and diplomatic missions.
