Flouci: financial superapp for individuals, businesses to create free bank account, mobile wallet via smartphone

Anis Kallel is the co-founder and CTO of Flouci (By Kaoun), a Tunisian-based fintech startup working to revolutionise digital banking in Francophone Africa by developing identification, payment and credit solutions tailored to the unbanked and underbanked. Flouci is a financial super-app that allows individuals and businesses to create a free bank account and mobile wallet via smartphone, while accessing a range of financial and government services.

Inspired by the potential of technology to reduce barriers to entry for the underbanked and underserved, Flouci is addressing a critical need in a region where 60% of the population remains underserved by traditional banking and less than 1% of merchants accept digital payments.

Flouci made banking more accessible to people living where bank branches are distant or non-existent by creating the first card delivered to a person’s home in Tunisia. Under Anis’ leadership, Flouci has grown to over 60,000 active users and secured over $2 million in funding. By participating in the Google and Visa accelerator programmes for Africa, Flouci has been able to build the infrastructure layers to provide quality financial services to its customers.

As one of the leading fintech entrepreneurs in Tunisia, Anis has become a reference in advising on various regulations in the banking sector. He has also developed technologies with various national agencies and ministries. In addition to his work in fintech and technological innovation, Anis creates educational content through Kafteji News, a digital series that explores technology, business and developments across the African continent, sharing practical insights with his audience.

Kallel gained valuable experience at Seedstars World, evaluating early-stage startups across sub-Saharan Africa, with a strong foundation in computer science and business from the University of Rochester in the United States. His work has involved meaningful collaboration with corporates, governments and startups to develop entrepreneurship ecosystems and create investment opportunities in the region.

Several prestigious institutions have recognised him for his contributions to fintech and entrepreneurship. He was recognised as one of the Forbes 30 Under 30 in MENA in 2024 and received the Young Arab Entrepreneur of the Year award from Takreem Foundation in 2023. He is a Fellow of Harambeans, an alliance of determined entrepreneurs building Africa’s future, and was nominated as one of the top 100 leaders of tomorrow at the St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland in 2019.
