Italy to allow entry to 18,000 non-EU seasonal farmhands

A decree by the Italian Interior Ministry will make it possible for 18,000 non-EU seasonal workers to enter the country. Migrant crossings in central Mediterranean more than doubled in July, EU agency says

Sea migration in the central Mediterranean rose sharply last month, partly fueled by an exodus from Tunisia, the European Union’s border agency Frontex said Tuesday. The INS announced it had started the first census on international migration in Tunisia.
