The unrest that had shaken Tunisia in recent days and disturbed the citizens’ nights has revealed something very crucial in the behaviour of the security and military officers. This chaos has revealed the degree of maturity and professionalism carried out by the Tunisian security forces and the Tunisian army, who, once again, showed their technical mastery in dealing with a minority of offenders and criminals whose main target is to plunge the country into chaos, responding to the great pleasure of their coward leaders and contractors, whoever they are. Our…

Claiming rights cannot go hand in hand with violence
Since a couple of days, we have witnessed some demonstrations which erupted in many Tunisians regions for some reasons. Either for high unemployment rate or for longstanding and extreme poverty, for high living cost as well as economic inequality, in a political landscape characterized by a dysfunctional economy and political incoherence between parties. In fact, we do believe that the government does not take any decision to suppress peaceful demonstrations, but it has to face the violent nature of some protests that broke out in some popular and delicate areas.…

Story of two inmates: Culture can curb crime and violence effectively
The last episode of the programme “Labes” broadcast on el Hiwar Ettounsi channel spotlighted on two inmates who accepted sharing their own painful stories and confessed their guilt with a deep remorse. We heard two harsh stories of one becoming a killer despite his higher education level in engineering and the other being a criminal at the age of seventeen. Unfortunately, their fate is horribly deteriorated. Both are dominated in prison by anxiety and remorse at a time they could have shared moments of cheer and success for themselves and…
Tunisian-British Friendship Association: building bridge between Tunisian and British societies by stepping up English language learning
I had the opportunity to attend a breakfast discussion on the theme “the English languages learning … the way forward” organised by the Tunisian-British Friendship Association” Friday in Tunis, to discuss the prospects of English learning in Tunisia. The event was enhanced by the presence of Minister of Education Hatem Ben Salem and a large audience and participants coming from the political, academic and professional world to discuss the issue of English learning and find out ways to improve the learning process on the basis of other experiences whether British…
Perseverance is needed in Tunisian parliament
I have had the opportunity to follow in a daze, footages of debates of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) on the draft Finance law for 2018. As Tunisian citizen, I was bewildered between the kind of harsh and abusive criticisms and allegations of some deputies towards some representatives of state institutions as well as toward their colleagues, which some of them are meaningless and reckless. We do not care which party succeed to lead the discussion in its favour. During this parliamentary plenary sessions what worried us most, is…
We know and believe in Allah more than they do…
Farewell Commander Riadh Barrouta. We remain recognizing and remembering you as well as your colleagues, whom their bloods have been shed on roads, hills and mountains for securing the country from any hazard and terrror. You are the hero and the martyr and paradise is your everlasting home. So rest in peace and we all pray for you for a better home. But the doer of the cowardly act is but an ignorant whose last refuge is hell. Ultimately, you are a real martyr, who are a victim of a…
Duty of many politicians to avoid fallacies and biased speech
The interview broadcast few days ago on national tv” al watania1” with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, spread anxiety because of the biased positions and views of a number of politicians after he explained his opinion frankly of what he described as ”fallacies”, referring to their erroneous leaks about the finance law. The anxiety becomes common among most people including lawmakers, which is a dangerous and undermines confidence with the political class that has become increasingly critical of every fact and every statement. We expect a better and positive result from…
The project objectives
Eagerly, we launched a new website in English language. It is a willingness by our team to find a new way within a country known by the dominance of French language in media landscape during decades, in coexistence with native language. Actually, we are aware that the task is difficult in particular for those who began their press professional career in Arabic for a long time, but the challenge is greater than any other emotion. We are ready to achieve this dream with the necessary passion and devotion. Our big…
