The International Telehealth Connect Summit 2026 opened Tuesday in Tunis, bringing together health sector leaders, policymakers, regulators, investors and technical experts from more than 30 countries.
Held under the auspices of the Tunisian Ministry of Health, the three-day summit runs through Thursday. Organizers said the event aims to develop strategies, strengthen partnerships and identify practical solutions to challenges in governance, cybersecurity and sustainable financing in digital health.
Participants are set to attend technical workshops and strategic forums focused on artificial intelligence, medical imaging, teleradiology, cross-border health regulations and data protection.
Tunisian health authorities said digital tools—including telemedicine, mobile messaging and chatbots—have significant potential to expand access to healthcare and improve the delivery of health services.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have estimated that digital health interventions could help prevent more than 2 million deaths over the next decade.
As countries look to widen healthcare access, the Tunis summit highlights growing global attention to AI, cross-border regulation, data protection and financing models for telemedicine and other digital health services.
