Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Sinani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Tunisia, extended his highest congratulations and best wishes to the Tunisian leadership and people, as well as to all Tunisian women, on the occasion of Tunisian National Women’s Day, celebrated annually on August 13.
In a press statement to the media on the occasion, Ambassador Al-Sinani affirmed that Tunisian National Women’s Day represents a historic and luminous milestone that reflects the rich civilizational heritage of Tunisia’s intellectual and scientific advancement. He expressed his great pride in the achievements and gains made by Tunisian women, which have made them a leading Arab model in various fields of work, innovation, and scientific research.
Ambassador Al-Sinani praised the steady and pioneering steps taken by Tunisian women in assuming leadership positions within the country’s sovereign institutions. Citing official data and historical milestones, he highlighted the active role of Tunisian women in diplomacy and their distinguished presence and high level of competence within the diplomatic corps. According to the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, women account for more than 36 percent of diplomatic representation, serving as capable advocates for just causes and as a distinguished image of their country internationally.
The ambassador also proudly highlighted a historic milestone and major achievement in the Tunisian Air Force: in 2024, First Lieutenant Asma Makni, a member of the Tunisian Air Force, became the first Tunisian woman to command a C-130 military transport aircraft. She thus became the first Tunisian woman to reach this operational field, proudly carrying the national flag and demonstrating outstanding leadership within the country’s longstanding military institution.
Dr. Al-Sinani also highlighted the continued academic excellence and international educational achievements of Tunisian women, which have contributed to institutional excellence across various fields. He cited among the most recent achievements the attainment by researchers Dr. Samira Bedrouch and Dr. Olfa Massoud of master’s degrees with distinction in medical sciences from Harvard University in the United States. He also noted the recognition of engineer Nihal Ben Youssef with the global “Cybersecurity Woman of the Year 2026” award, the selection of Amira Romdhane among the Top 50 Women Shaping the Future of Germany for 2026, and student Yasmine Yaakoubi’s achievement of ranking first nationally in the baccalaureate examination with an exceptional record score.
In this regard, Ambassador Al-Sinani stressed: “These outstanding successes are not an achievement for Tunisia alone; they are a source of pride and inspiration for all the peoples of our Arab countries. In the Sultanate of Oman, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect and preserve him, and his brother, President Kais Saied, we take pride in our deeply rooted fraternal relations and view the exchange of expertise and experiences among national talents as a key driver for achieving our shared development aspirations.”
Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Sinani concluded his statement by expressing his highest appreciation and respect for Tunisian women in all positions of responsibility, wishing the Republic of Tunisia and its brotherly people continued progress, prosperity, and elevation.
