A symbolic ceremony was held on June 18 in Tunis to mark the official handover of a donation from the Russkiy Mir Foundation to 18 Tunisian secondary schools offering Russian as an optional subject. The event forms part of a series of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Tunisia.
The ceremony was attended by Russia’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Alexandre Zolotov, alongside Tatiana Chlitchkova, Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, representatives from Tunisia’s Ministry of Education, Randa Zayani, President of the Tunisian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, and Fayçal Abid, head of the “Rue de la Russie” high school.
The recipient schools are set to receive furniture; computer equipment, including laptops and interactive whiteboards; as well as educational resources specifically designed for Russian language instruction. Teachers will also benefit from access to video content, Russian-language films, and the opportunity to connect to online courses led by leading Russian experts.
Beyond the material support, the Foundation has pledged to continue providing methodological guidance for teaching, contribute to the professional development of educators, and reward students for their academic achievements.
This humanitarian initiative is expected to further stimulate interest in the Russian language within Tunisian schools, a subject that continues to grow in popularity across the country.
