Palestine at the heart of the JCC

Palestine has been central to the Carthage Film Festival since its inception, with the festival committed to amplifying the Palestinian voice. Through films depicting the struggles and hopes of its people and the presence of Palestinian filmmakers across festival sections, Palestine remains a focal point.

This year’s edition coincides with ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people. Refusing to remain silent, the festival highlights Palestine through diverse programs, themes, and venues.

One such initiative, Palestine in the Heart of the JCC, features Palestinian films screened in Avenue Habib Bourguiba, showcasing works by past festival participants and emerging filmmakers. Additionally, films about Palestine by non-Palestinian directors offer alternative perspectives on the Palestinian cause.

The festival also hosts an exhibition documenting Palestinian cinema’s history, featuring archival films, photos, and tributes to fallen cinematographers who sacrificed their lives to reveal the truth. Clips from Palestinian films awarded the Tanit or distinguished in previous editions further celebrate this legacy.
