Tunisia receives €270 million from European Commission

Tunisia received €270 million (some 900 million dinars) from the European Commission to fund Key sectors in Tunisia namely energy and taxation

After a meeting between President Beji Caïd Essebsi and President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker on Thursday at Carthage Palace, four agreements were signed by Zied Laâdhari, Minister of Development, Investment and International Co-operation, and European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Johannes Hahn,

The agreements in question provide for the financing of four programmes.

They include a programme to support the energy transition (€50 million, 166 million dinars) and, a programme of support to the reform of the justice (PARJ) with an amount of €60 million, 198 million dinars).

A third programme to support tax reform, financial inclusion and the social and solidarity economy will mobilize a sum of €70 million (231 million dinars), besides a Business Competitiveness and Export Programme with an amount of €90 million (297 million dinars).
